Does anyone have a source for this god? Haukurth

This, perhaps? :S Looks a little suspicious to me though. — flamingspinach | (talk) 22:17, 2005 Jun 17 (UTC)
Probably this article from Encycloclopedia Mythica. See askefruer to get a hint of the standards of that site. --Salleman 04:50, 18 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Thanks. That's what I guessed too. My fear is that if we have the article deleted it will be created again from the same bogus sources. We probably need to keep an article here explaining that this is probably a modern invention.

On the other hand one might argue that a god invented by Encyclopedia Mythica or some such isn't notable enough to have a page. Then again, considering all the fancruft we tolerate I suppose debunking bogus information should be informative and useful enough - Haukurth 30 June 2005 15:39 (UTC)

I think the way you have re-written the Geirrendour article is exemplary! We should deal with all articles based on questionable sources in that way.
VfD is overloaded anyway, no-one have the time to examine factuality disputes there. I had a Spae Wife VfD turned down for that reason (which was not all that bad, because later I found out that even though close to every word in the article was bogus, "spaewife" is a Scottish variant of spákona) --Salleman 04:23, 10 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
You're probably right. This is difficult to put on VfD because of the expert knowledge required to make a judgment. How about making an article like Bogus information on Norse mythology where we could handle the various "gods". Then we could make Brono, Geirrendour, Laga, Astrild, et. al. redirect to that page. - Haukurth 11:10, 10 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I made such a list at List of Norse gods#Pseudo-Norse gods and goddesses, where I think it is most likely to be of informative use. --Salleman 09:08, 12 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
