Brook (One Piece)Brooke (One Piece)

  • Support. Brooke seems to be the most commonly used name as of now. So, as of now, we should use Brooke.203.218.79.155 15:19, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Oppose Since we don't have the latin spelling, we should use the Japanese romanisaiton (yeah I spelt that horribly wrong, I know) until further notice. Also, Brook is the guy name, Brooke is the female name... Untiul Oda states otherwise, the spelling is correct as per. Angel Emfrbl 19:04, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Oppose "Brooke" as a female's name makes no sense for a male character. The Splendiferous Gegiford 19:31, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Oppose If you were to load the DS ROM for One Piece Gear Spirit in any hex editor, you would see it spelled as "Brook" in the ASCII. It may not be concrete proof, because the color palette for the character is also off, but it's probably closest to anything official. EvilJerk (talk) 04:21, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
I'm quite sure this is an outdated move request. Seeing as how his name has been confirmed as Brook. -Sukecchi (talk) 13:07, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
  • Oppose Brook is his real name. Makes more sense. 79.101.144.43 (talk) 01:05, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
This is an old move request. It is no longer necessary to vote. -Sukecchi (talk) 01:11, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Name correction

The image shows clearly that the name is Brooke, not Brook.

How do I change the article name? If someone knows how to, please do.203.198.23.70 16:51, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

If you Create an account and wait 4 days, you will be able to move pages. The move button appears at the top of the article near the "edit this page" button. Make sure you have gained consensus for the change here on the talk page first. Some moves can't be done by people that aren't Admins because they have a history at the page you want to move them to. In that case, you have to list them on WP:RM. Let me know on my talk page if you have any questions or want to discuss anything. delldot | talk 16:55, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for explanation of moving and warning of consensus, delldot. I do have an account. I'll wait for acknowledgement for the name change before moving it, then. C Ronald 17:04, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
I hate to point it out, but thats not a raw image, its a translation. His name is in Japanese in the orginal. That translator choose Brooke over Brook. Angel Emfrbl 20:07, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Why lie like that you love to be the one to point these out its like a drug for you.

dont worrie about me im just an ass Rocks Lotus 12:30, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Please don't direct attacks at me on the wikipedia talks pages... At least keep it to my own personnel talk page and save iot creeping onto everywhere else. I don't like to point things out at all, what I love is to be able to log onto wikipedia without seeing vandals and other problems on here. I've yet to see a problem free One Piece wikpedia pages related free day. I am just concerned with the state of the pages, I've been watching them since July. It is a hassle, not a drug, to me pointing out incorrectness, but it *has* to be done. Angel Emfrbl 15:56, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
From what I have seen, Brooke is a far more popular translation than Brook. Can we confirm which is more accurate? - STAREYe 21:31, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
The closest that we can do NOW is vote on it, or put up polls on major One Piece sites like Arlong Park. (Justyn 23:55, 29 January 2007 (UTC))
The main problem with all this is that everything is basically speculation at the moment. For all we know, Oda could later on reveal his spelling to be "Bluke" or something like that. The only thing to do now is to use the name that makes the most sense and the name that's the most popular. The problem with the most popular name, though, is that it makes no sense. "Brooke" is a female's name, so the best thing to do is to use the closest possible name, which is "Brook". Hopefully we'll get an official spelling sometime. The Splendiferous Gegiford 04:41, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
Aren't we also speculating? As of now, English readers know the Gentleman Skeleton as Brooke. We should use the name that is most commonly used, not the name that we think is most accurate. When his name is clearly revealed, then we can change it accordingly, but before that, we should change it to Brooke. 203.218.79.155 15:03, 31 January 2007 (UTC)—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 203.218.79.155 (talk) 15:03, 31 January 2007 (UTC).
What are you talking about, I'm an English reader and I know it as Brook. What you've said is also speculations. Just leave it as it is now and when its 100% sure what the official spelling is, then change it. 134.121.250.173 (talk) 06:38, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
This issue has already been sorted, there is no need to mention old discussions... Its been confirmed as "Brook" long ago.  :/ Angel Emfrbl (talk) 07:50, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Too Early

This article has been created far too early in th story. It would have been better to wait a few chapters. What do we do if he doesn't join? This article would have to be put up for deletetion. -_-'

He was probaberly better off being included as a minor character on the minor characters page until we learnt more info on him. Angel Emfrbl 11:12, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Officially he is a new member, if in the end he leaves, then it will be okay to put him elsewhere, unless if he leaves in a similar way Vivi did.
But for now we'll wait a few chapters until we get more info... Please everyone. Its not as simple as everyone thinks. We need a little more info on him. Angel Emfrbl 16:46, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Yomi Yomi no Mi?

I'm wondering since I just read the chapter where Brook was introduced and I never saw anything about him having the Yomi Yomi no Mi(Hell Hell Fruit). Was it confirmed or is that fan speculation? 69.122.86.84 23:18, 29 January 2007

It is a unconfirmed spoiler of the next chapter (443). I'm going to remove it and all other info about the chapter for now. Angmar404 18:38, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Confirmation comes out Wednesday/Thursday... Trouble is people just can't wait that long. Its the same every week. Angel Emfrbl 20:26, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
The confirmation script is out now. It's also made apparent in the text that the "yomi" is short for "yomigaeru", meaning "revive". The Splendiferous Gegiford 19:48, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Making it a non direct page?

Since Brook is now a new member of Strawhats, shouldn't he have its own page? George Leung (talk) 22:44, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Chapter isn't released yet - wait please. Even with confirmed spoilers, details are often left out the released chapter reveals. Angel Emfrbl (talk) 23:00, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Format

Will this article eventually be recreated to fit the format of the other Straw Hats? You know, a section about him, a section stating his powers, and then him in other media? Right now it just looks like a wall of text. Granted the article was probably just recently recreated. I understand the time it would take to do something like this. -Sukecchi (talk) 22:58, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Arl was working on a proper version of the article, I guess we wait to see what happens. If not, on Monday I'll fix this page. Angel Emfrbl (talk) 23:45, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
is the picture approved, or should it be taken down?--Ctstrawhat910 (talk) 22:37, 23 February 2008
Its got that table thingy on its info bit, I see no problems with it. If it is removed, we can always sort that out later, if its replaced with a picture without the proper info on its description we can revert. Angel Emfrbl (talk) 23:25, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
I'd kind of like a different picture...something a bit more...bright? -Sukecchi (talk) 23:35, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
So long as you put the right info on it... And there isn't a immediate edit war involved... You can what you want as far as pictures are concerned, with the wikipedia guidelines Nand rules that is. Angel Emfrbl (talk) 00:04, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
I like my picture  :( I'm not opposed to a different one, I just snagged the first anime image I could get. Ark (talk) 13:56, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
All pictures are lost over time... T_T Angel Emfrbl (talk) 23:28, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

do we want to split his story into smaller sections, first life, pre-straw hat encounter, thrillerbark, current events? IIRC, thats how all the other members are divided, also, do the other straw hats have major battles sections? if so should brook get one?--Ctstrawhat910 (talk) 18:54, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

nevermind, none of that is true.--Ctstrawhat910 (talk) 18:54, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Brook's former crew

Do we call them the Rumble Pirates, the Rumbar Pirates, the Rumba Pirates, or whatever other translation has been seen? We should agree on something in case we get a mini edit war over this very minor subject. Ark (talk) 13:06, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Rumble was never a name for them... Ramba is a series of notes incidently and what was the only translation until recent chaps. Its Rumbar as Oda's latin text - if all else fails, stick wto what has been given!  :) Angel Emfrbl (talk) 22:49, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Rumba refers to several kinds of music. The Rumba pirates are extremely musical, the captain even said something along the lines of "Anyone can join, as long as they love music". It seems fairly obvious that this is what Oda intended them to be. - STAREYe (talk) 16:43, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Yet he wrote "Rumbar". Sorry, but you can only have what he has written in latin text... Otherwise, We might as well do Brooke and Zolo. ^_- Angel Emfrbl (talk) 19:09, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Brook's Bounty

When the bounty was mentioned was it referring to his former bounty when he was still alive or does he have a bounty as his skeleton self? Gune (talk) 07:28, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Its his active bounty. 79.101.144.43 (talk) 01:17, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Bone puns?? OH GOD!!

Just think what 4KIDS would have done to Brook if they still had the rights to the dub. There might be some parts that might come close to being funny, but probably stupid as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.45.113.64 (talk) 17:07, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
