German WP insight[edit]

The following red-linked entry appears on the German WP at the Dab de:Buke:

* Buke (Adel), japanischer Schwertadel aus denen die Samurai hervorgingen

While i've not previously encountered the compounds Schwertadel and hervorgingen (past tense of hervorgehen), i'm far more confident that it translates to

* Buke (nobility), Japanese sword-nobility, out of which the samurai emerged

than the lack of sources would permit one to be about the value of even the perfect translation. It is thus that i wrote

Its modern sense may be derived from a term referring to the armed nobility from which the samurai class arose.

as a starting point for the further research, by others, that will in any case be needed.
