There's potential to greatly expand this article if anyone is interested. The AV Club called the film "relentlessly hated" but then goes on to describe it as a blueprint for various sketch comedy shows and mentions "modern-day compliments" the film has received. The reception section doesn't even begin to explain the past or present opinions of this film. There isn't a Production section either but apparently the writers intended for Burton to direct but Resnick reluctantly directed instead.
