South America

[edit]

Quick note. It says here Castellano is "sometimes used in South America"; well, I know from my time in Peru that far from being merely "sometimes used", Castellano is the ONLY word used to refer to the language spoken there - they don't like Spain and won't admit they speak 'español'...

Even in the Peruvian conctitution (1993), article 48:

"Son idiomas oficiales el castellano y, en las zonas donde ..."

"Official languages are CASTELLANO and, in the areas where ..."

I know it's the same in Ecuador - popularly and constitutionally - and have no reason to believe it is any different in other spanish-speaking South American countries.

Being this a damb page, the best thing to do is probably to take out any comment. I proceed. --Jotamar (talk) 19:20, 1 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
