- dose eny one know if the army still has units like this one?
The only unit in existance today that I know of is the Civil Air Patrol as they are civilians recruited by the Air Force, they operate independantly although they no longer function in a combat role, and they often utilize their personal knowledge of local terrain to function. [edit]Why is this small unit referred to as a regiment in the opening paragraph when it's official designation was a platoon?
