It is created on July, 24th, 1941 on southern flank of the central site of the советско-German front, on formation of a staff of front the staff of 4-th army has been directed.

Ordering the front had been appointed(nominated) general-colonel F.I.Kuznetsov, начштаба — the colonel. M. of Sandal-wood trees, the chief of artillery — the general-major of M. of Item Dmitriev ordering the Air Forces of front — комдив of A.Vorozhejkin, a staff — Gomel.

At creation of front its(his) border with the Western front — Bryansk, Рославль, Шклов, Minsk (all inclusive for the Western front), the main operational direction of front — Gomel, Bobruisk, Волковыск has been established(installed). In structure of front in the beginning was two armies:

   * 13-th army (the commander — the general-lieutenant of Century F.Gerasimenko, after оставления Mogilyov has replaced it(him) general-major K.D.Golubev; a staff near Making related). As the basic connections of army were in an environment in area of Mogilyov (61-st shooting and 20-th mechanized cases) and on Krichevsky a direction (45-th and 20-th shooting cases), armies have been transferred(transmitted) to a part and connections of disbanded 4-th army: 28-th shooting case borrowed(occupied) a strip on р. Сож, group the general-major Ampere-second. Жадова — from Кричева up to Мстиславля.
   * 21-st army (the commander — the general-lieutenant of M. Ефремов): 25-th мехкорпус, 66-th, 63-rd, 21-st and 67-th shooting cases.

Actions of front were supported(maintained) Пинская with a river flotilla.

On August, 1st in structure of the Central front have included 3-rd army (management of the army receded from the Grodno, has left an environment on July, 28th to the north of Rogatchyov). Ordering 3-rd army have left the general-lieutenant of Century I.Kuznetsova, the chief of a staff have appointed(nominated) the general-major Ampere-second. Жадова; the staff has settled down in area to the west Калинковичей. Armies have placed under the authority 66-th shooting case (its(his) commander the commander who has left an environment of 1-st case general-major F.D.Rubtsov has been appointed(nominated)), Мозырьский укрепрайон and 75-th shooting division.

On August, 7th, 1941 F.I.Kuznetsov has been withdrawn to Moscow for reception of the new purpose(assignment,destination), the new ordering front appoints(nominates) the general-lieutenant of M. Ефремов, the commander of 21-st army the general-major of Century N.Gordov became acting.

Next day impact in a strip of 13-th army approach of 2-nd tank group of Heinz Guderiana in a southern direction has begun.

On August, 12th the Ó«úáþÑó߬«-Gomel operation вермахта has begun: operations of German 2-nd field army general-colonel Maksimiliana background Вейхса on rout of the Central front.

On August, 14th in connection with successful approach of tank group Guderiana to a joint Central and Reserve the front for protection of the Moscow direction had been created Bryansk front (the commander — general-lieutenant A.I.Eremenko): 50-th army and transferred(transmitted) from structure of the Central front 13-th army.

In structure of the Central front there were two armies:

   * 3-rd army defended on мозырьском a direction,
   * 21-st army — on Gomel; its(her) 63-rd shooting case (the commander — the general-lieutenant. Peter) battled in an environment in area Zhlobin, Rogatchyov.

On August, 17th rout of 63-rd shooting case has been completed, thus in арьергардном to fight at village Skepnya (20 km to the east Жлобина) were lost the general-lieutenant. Peter, начштаба 63-rd shooting case colonel A.L.Feygin and the chief of artillery of the case general-major A.F.Kazakov.

On August, 19th connections of German 2-nd field army have borrowed(occupied) Gomel. Under threat of an environment on August, 22nd 3-rd army has left Мозырь.

On the night of August, 26th the Central front has been disbanded, its(his) armies and a strip of defense have been transferred(transmitted) to Bryansk front.

[To correct] the Second formation

It is created on February, 15th, 1943 on the basis of the disbanded Don front. The commander — general-colonel K.K.Rokossovsky, a member of the Military council — general-major K.F.Telegin, the chief of a staff — the general-lieutenant of M. S.Malinin. In structure of front have originally included following armies:

   * 21-st army (the commander — the general-lieutenant And. M. Чистяков)
   * 65-th army (the general-lieutenant of Item I.Batov)
   * 70-th army (the general-major F.Tarasov)
   * 2-nd tank army (the general-lieutenant And. Родин)
   * 16-th air army (general-lieutenant S.I.Rudenko).

The staff of front was placed in area of 10 km to the east Yelets, the front has received a problem(task) to support(maintain) approach of the Voronezh and Bryansk fronts, operating(working) in direction Севск, Унеча « with an immediate task to cut the railway Bryansk-ú«¼Ñ½ý … On an output(exit) of armies of front on a line Bryansk, Gomel the main impact to put(render) through Klimoviches, Хиславичи on Smolensk with a problem(task) of capture of area Smolensk and cutting of ways of a withdrawal of the вяземско-Rzhev grouping of the opponent. Simultaneously with transition in approach of our armies from a line Bryansk, Gomel to Smolensk will go over to the offensive:

   * The western front — on Рославль and further to Smolensk
   * Front Kalininsky — to Vitebsk, Orsha, a part of forces to Smolensk, towards to our main impact … » [1]

The Bryansk front by this time (on February, 15-17th) should finish rout of the Oryol grouping of the opponent. However that the armies thrown from under Сталинграда, had not time to approach(suit) in due time in area of fights, and 21-st army in communication(connection) by adverse succession of events in area of Belgorod has been transferred(transmitted) in structure of the Voronezh front, approach of the Central front has not reached(achieved) operative successes. German armies have put(rendered) counterstroke and have put the Soviet armies in heavy position. On March, 21st, 1943 the Central front has passed to defense and has departed on the boundaries which have made northern фас Kursk arches.

Structure of the Central front in Kursk battle by summer of 1943:

   * 48-th army (the general-lieutenant of Item L.Romanenko)
   * 13-th army (the general-lieutenant. Item Pukhov)
   * 70-th army (the general-lieutenant And. Century Galanin)
   * 65-th army (the general-lieutenant of Item I.Batov)
   * 60-th army (general-lieutenant I.D.Chernyakhovsky)
   * 16-th air army (general-lieutenant S.I.Rudenko).

In a reserve of front there was 2-nd tank army, 9-th both 19-th tank cases and other parts. The basic impact of the opponent on northern фасе the Kursk arch was accepted by 13-th army and, partially, 48-th and 70-th armies. After reflection of German approach on July, 15th, 1943 the Central front forces of the right flank (48-th, 13-th and 70-th armies, 2-nd tank army) has passed in counterattack in direction Кромы so that in interaction with armies of Bryansk and Western fronts to crush the Oryol grouping вермахта. Soon for development of approach in structure of front 3-rd Guards tank army the general-lieutenant of Item S.Rybalko has been included. By August, 18th, having finished the Oryol operation, the Soviet armies send(have left) to a defensive line of the opponent "Hagen".

On August, 26th, 1943 new approach of the Central front (Черниговско-Припятская operation on August, 26th September, 1943) during which have been borrowed(occupied) Gluhov, Konotop, Nezhin, Chernigov has begun. On September, 29th 13-th and 60-th armies gravitated to Kiev, have been subordinated to the Voronezh front. In turn, on October, 1st from structure of Bryansk front to the Central front have been transferred(transmitted) 3-rd (the commander — And. Century Gorbatov), 50-th (And. Century Boldin) and 63-rd armies (Century Y.Kolpakchi). Thus, strips of the responsibility and a problem(task) of fronts have been changed. On October, 15th the Central front has begun new approach to the Gomel direction forces of 65-th and transferred(transmitted) in structure of front of 61-st army (the commander — Item A.Belov).
