*SPOILERS AND ALL THAT!*

Was it just me, or was the origin of the Slashers a blatant reference to a certain Slashdot? The slash-and-dot gesture and early-21st-century-net-community thing seemed too much like a coincidence... ;-) --HiddenInPlainSight 09:50, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, I picked up on it as well. Adding to the article. TRS-80 08:53, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dakota[edit]

Characters in the book refer repeatedly to the US state of Dakota even though the point of departure for Earth2 is in the 1930s, forty years after the Dakota Territory was divided into North and South Dakota. Whether Reynolds is ignorant of American geography, or if he included the error to show that our own world is divergent from the two in the story, is unclear. quoted as of September 19, 2008

Has anyone ever brought this point up with Mr Reynolds? This is course very minor, but it is an odd plotpoint. Are there any other differences between our Earth and that of the novel that predate the point of divergence? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Francis Burdett (talkcontribs) 20:10, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He addressed that here. --Closedmouth (talk) 13:17, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
