Proposal to merge with Progressive rock
[edit]If the page for power metal has a characteristics section, why doesn't the page for progressive rock? JJPMaster (talk) 18:21, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
- Totally agree. And I wonder whether characteristics of this genre have ever received substantial dedicated coverage in reliable sources, separate from coverage of prog overall, as we're affording the subject. It just seems like an indulgence. It's a genre; it has its origins, characteristics, key works and performers, history encompassing peaks and declines, its supporters and its critics – there's no reason to pull out one of those subtopics for special attention, surely. - I agree that this page is FUBAR and should be a redirect, but the main article does have a characteristics section. ili (talk) 14:16, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
Support Pretty weird to see a "characteristics of *subgenre*" page would exist. Most subgenre pages are just unsourced ramblings from fans. I mean, a two second glance at the characteristics page led me to the sentence "Lyrics are typically not written to appeal exclusively to adolescent audiences." What the fuck does that mean? Typical garbage that you would find on a subgenre wikipedia page. But it looks like Progressive Rock page actually has a "good article" badge. So yeah, just nuke the "characteristics" page. These are usually super unmoderated and poorly written to begin with. Nikki Lee 1999 (talk) 06:06, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
