This article has been reviewed as part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles/Project quality task force in an effort to ensure all listed Good articles continue to meet the Good article criteria. In reviewing the article, I have found there are some issues that may need to be addressed, listed below. I will check back in seven days. If these issues are addressed, the article will remain listed as a Good article. Otherwise, it may be delisted (such a decision may be challenged through WP:GAR). If improved after it has been delisted, it may be nominated at WP:GAN. Feel free to drop a message on my talk page if you have any questions, and many thanks for all the hard work that has gone into this article thus far.

Lead
  • Is the club's nickname "The Addicks", as the lead says or the "Addicks", as in the first paragraph of the History section and elsewhere in the article? Whichever, the article needs to be consistent.
  • "After being relegated from the Championship in 2008–09 ...". Haven't explained what "the Championship" is, or even wikilinked it.
  • "... they will play in Football League One in 2009–10." Needs updating as we're into the 2009–10 season now.
History
  • This section suffers from a bad case of recentism, with too much relative emphasis on last season.
  • "Charlton Athletic were formed on 9 June 1905 by a group of 15- to 17-year-old boys in an area of Charlton which is no longer residential ...". What's the significance of the area "no longer being residential? We weren't told that it was residential in the first place.
  • The opening sentence claims that the club was formed by a "a group of 15- to 17-year-old boys", yet the source cited merely says "a group of teenagers", doesn't specify ages, or even gender.
  • "They were the most consistent team in the top flight of English football over the three seasons immediately before the Second World War." The source cited doesn't say that so far as I can see.
  • "In 1956, the then board undermined Jimmy Seed, and Charlton were relegated the following year." Use of the word "undermined clearly displays a particular point of view that is inappropriate in what is supposed to be a neutral encyclopedia article. All the source cited says is "Seed is sacked as manager after 23 years in charge." Need to stick to the facts, and not be tempted to embellish.
  • The first half of the third paragraph is completely uncited, and contains a good deal of peacock language, such as "Sadly, disaster struck for the fine young stopper", and "He is still loved by many at the Valley". The whole paragraph needs to be rewritten in a more neutral tone and properly cited, eliminating obvious pov and overly informal language evident in statements like "The ref didn’t stop play despite calls by the keeper and this is what is believed to have done the real damage." Thought by who? The author? Is this one incident really worth so much space in the club's history? Is it really important that Blackie is "now thought to be a senior teacher in Cheshire"? By whom is he thought to be a senior teacher in Cheshire?
  • "Curbishley rewarded the chairman's loyalty ...". The tone of this whole section needs to be made more formal; this is the language of the tabloid press.
  • "... but was sacked after twelve league matches in November 2006". So Charlton played 12 league matches in November 2006?
Stadia
  • "In the 1980s matters came to a head as the ownership of the club and The Valley was divided". Hadn't ownership of the two always been divided? If so, why did matters come to a head then?
Supporters
  • "The bulk of the club's support base comes from the London Boroughs of Greenwich, Bexley and Bromley and also north-west Kent ...". This, and the following information about a "connection with Kent" (is that really significant, what is this "connection"?) is uncited.
  • "The current director is Ben Hayes, who was elected in 2006 and will last until 2008." Needs to be updated, as it's now 2009.
  • "The role is, however, set to be discontinued as a result of legal issues and replaced by a fans forum." Has it been replaced by a fans forum?
  • Sources need to be provided for the material in the second and third paragraphs.
  • The third paragraph contains two external links. These should be converted to inline citations. External links should only appear in the External links section.
Rivalries
  • This whole section really needs to be rewritten and properly cited.
  • "Crystal Palace's outspoken chairman Simon Jordan has often criticised Charlton fans ...". In the following Club Officials section, Simon Jordan is not shown as the chairman.
That'd be because he's the chairman of Crystal Palace ;) Oldelpaso (talk) 17:06, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Player of the year
  • What's the source for this information?
  • Managerial History, Honours, and Player records also seem to be uncited.
References
  • Page numbers are formatted incorrectly, for instance "pp. p104". "pp." is for a page range, such as "pp. 10–12", and "p." is for a single page, such as "p. 12".

  • As these issues remain unaddressed this article has now been delisted. --Malleus Fatuorum 18:04, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
