Substitution pattern confusion

"The reaction takes place especially in 2 and 5 position of the Pyridine."

By resonance stability rules, I would expect 2 (==6) and 4 to be the pair with similar reactivity, and different than 3 (==5). Is something special going on here?

"As electrophilic addition is only possible in 3 and 5 position of the pyridine ring the 2 and 5 positions became available for further synthesis by the Chichibabin reaction" is confusing. First part contradicts previously quoted sentence (though matches that 3==5 is a consistent set in my comment). But more, what is this whole sentence actually saying? I rephrased the sentence once again, because it still looked very confusing to me. I also added a reaction mechanism image from the German article. However it presumably contains a mistake -- the reaction temperature cannot be 100-200 degrees C (unless you apply pressure), as the reaction takes place in liquid ammonia. 217.230.185.68 (talk) 22:02, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
