[edit]

Despite the website using the word "live" I can only find recorded videos in comparison to the Russian website RTTV. I remember a live feed that was on line last year.1archie99 (talk) 11:58, 23 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Domain rename

[edit]

The primary cite seems to have moved from a subsite of cctv.cntv.cn to cctv.com, should we update the official links to reflect this? If you check them all they forward from CN to COM. Ranze (talk) 07:07, 26 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

2018 is still in the future

[edit]

A {{dubious}} template was added by another user, with this section name as the parameter.

The problem is that the past tense in the sentence is inconsistent with the date given. I suspect that this is either a typo or a poor-quality translation from Chinese. Can anyone clarify what the original author could have meant? --SoledadKabocha (talk) 00:46, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Move discussion in progress

[edit]

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:China Network Television which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 15:32, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Attention. CCTV will merge with China National Radio and China Radio International.

Source: http://news.sina.com.cn/c/nd/2018-03-21/doc-ifysnhat1097446.shtml

the new institution will be called “中央广播电视总台”, and internationally as “中国之声”(traslation is yet to be announced, but it's highly likely just Voice of China (not to be confused with The Voice of China. Disambiguation will be needed).

This is of course a move to counter VOA.

article mergers should not happen until the merger is finished before late 2018, but the news should be reflected in all three articles.

There are also 60 changes to PRC's important institusions in the above source, so be prepared for a bizzarely high amount of moves and mergers before March 2019.Ywwuyi, GCCPK (talk) 13:20, 21 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Remove biased reference: "CCP Propaganda Department." The name is "Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Publicity_Department_of_the_Chinese_Communist_Party

Remove biased editorial content stated as fact: "Since its inception CCTV has served as a tool of state power and as such has been complicit in human rights abuses. They have a history of demonizing and inciting hatred against those perceived as foes by the CCP, in this way they can be used to mobilize against threats as diverse as Falun Gong and international Human Rights Groups" Such a value judgement violates NPOV. A contributor is not allowed to launder their own biases through a source that spouts the same: two matching subjective opinions does not equal objectivity, regardless that the lack of criticality of the contributor makes them believe such is the case. 2601:18B:8200:3AE:EC06:9F53:F3B1:9D90 (talk) 22:41, 19 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
