Pop Culture and Continuity Notes

I think some system needs to be determined over what information should be included under Pop Culture and Continuity. Many pop culture references that have appeared are either vague or open to too much interpretation. Furthermore, some continuity notes could be considered as unimportant(IE, the note about Chuck having played in Fiddler on the Roof). I try to clean them up, but some users who shall remain nameless (partly because they're posting anonymously by IP address.... I wish Wikipedia would block ALL anonymous editing....) ignore those edit summaries and re-add them without justifying their own edits. Ambaryer (talk) 02:09, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The comment to the edit at 15:25, 19 January 2014‎ say "please provide a source confirming it.", confirming what? The there is a John Varley story named "Press enter _" (witch is trivial to find) or that the reference was intentional placed there by the writers (a standard which none of the items live up to). The only commonality I can find across (most) all the items that haven't been removed, is that they each have 2 non-trivial connections between the episode and some other thing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.72.154.66 (talk)

Please provide a source confirming "Press enter _" is explicitly a reference to the Varley story. The problem with that entry is that "Press enter" is such a common line of computer dialog, what explicitly connects its appearance on Chuck's computer ONLY with the John Varley story? Pretty much every DOS application ever written has some permutation or variation on a "Press enter" command, which in turn performs a function (generally either execution or a prompt to continue displaying text). This isn't like a character using "Ivan Drago" as an alias, as was discussed at length for Chuck vs. the Final Exam. That's a name unquestionably associated with Rocky IV, and there's no possibility of confusion with anything else. However just seeing a line of computer text saying "Press enter" is not an unquestionable reference because, as I noted, it's something which appears in hundreds of computer applications. If you have a valid referenced source that confirms the text on the computer explicitly refers to the title story, then by all means add it with the source noted.Ambaryer (talk) 04:28, 20 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed Addition to Pop Culture

Add the following: During the fight scene between Chuck and Shaw, the music and the video have a western theme. In keeping with this theme, Shaw, who usually wears white, wears black in the similar fashion that the "bad guy" in a typical Western wore black. That one's pretty loose. I MAY have seen a comment by Fedak implying a western connection during the standoff, check out the interview he had with Sepinwall after the finale aired and see if it's there.
