Requested move 11 February 2024

[edit]

The result of the move request was: Moving to different title.. In light of the changes to the article that focuses more on the lifeboats, it makes sense to keep it as a lifeboat title. There is consensus, instead, to move it to Civil Service lifeboats. (non-admin closure) TLA (talk) 02:11, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Civil Service LifeboatsThe Lifeboat Fund – Contested move. The article's references also point to The Lifeboat Fund – the Civil Service Lifeboats seem to be something that The Lifeboat Fund funds. TLA (talk) 23:49, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose - The page has been created to match the other RNLI Lifeboat fleet pages as a reference source for the lifeboats with Civil Service in their names.
ie. Duke of Edinburgh (Civil Service No.53)
Whilst the RNLI Civil Service Lifeboats are funded by The Lifeboat Fund (A Civil Service Charity), this page is not intended to be about the fund, but about the lifeboats.Ojsyork (talk) 00:34, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose - This article seems to be more about the lifeboats themselves than the funds. An article about the fund with its history wouldn't be appropriate for in depth information about the lifeboats themselves, but this could be an offshoot of a said article of that nature, or left as a standalone article as it currently is.
An article for The Lifeboat Fund should be made and usurped over the current redirect, and link to this in a brief summary of the boats themselves. DarmaniLink (talk) 22:11, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment – This article isn't primarily about the fund, nor is the proposal arguing the scope be changed (although the fund may be more notable; incorporating this article; and should this article's notability be disputed). The existing main and original intent seems to focus on the lifeboats. "lifeboats" should be lower case per WP:NCCAPS so should move to Civil Service lifeboats. IMO this could potentially be a WP:NLIST and a WP:SPINOFF of the article itself (since the information this in depth about the boats would be certainly undue for an article on the fund), but yeah, there should be an article on the fund and this one should "depend" on that one, so to speak. Oppose as (1) this is about the lifeboats, not the funds, and (2) it matches other pages, e.g. James Stevens lifeboats (although 'lifeboats' shouldn't be capitalised). Geof Sheppard (talk) 18:08, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Comment/WP:SNOW - I agree it should be Civil Service lifeboats (lowercase) as well. Can this please be retracted or snow closed? DarmaniLink (talk) 07:01, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
