factual error
[edit]the first line has a bit of a factual error, claiming it is not a board game. Battletech definitely originates in, and still plays as, a board game, of the tactical singl-unit hex-and-counter/hex-and-miniature variety, and was played on map boards.
The early editions (I have them) used cardboard standups for mechs, and cardboard flat counters for infantry, armor, and buildings. Aerotech 1st edition used 1/2" square counters on 16mm hexes. The large hexes of the Battletech game were about 2" face to face... I've got a bunch somewhere.

Name change
[edit]Catalyst Game Labs has reverted the name back to BattleTech some time back. This can be confirmed by the Official BattleTech website and on Catalyst Game Labs' own site on the game. 24.49.23.45 (talk) 20:15, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
