I was shocked when i saw this!

The articale is tiny! It does not say when the co-op food was founded, or an exact amount of operations split into how many convienence stores or superstores, not to mention there is nothing (except this now) in the discussion page, and even worse so, they bought Somerfield and the Somerfield articale is huge compared to this!

I Think this needs expanding! --213.83.125.225 (talk) 13:00, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

Agreed: it needs re-organising and expanding. All help welcome
(1) For a little history, see The Co-operative Group#History.
(2) Stats by store size do not seem to be easily available, but perhaps some more research can turn up useful figures. The Group has few if any stores over 50,000 sq ft, though I think other co-operatives have some superstores branded The Co-operative Food.
(3) Somerfield was bought by The Co-operative Group, not by The Co-operative Food. That article is quite lengthy, but doesn't have the stats you wanted.

I will help expand this article with more information about the Co-operative Food, and other areas of the business. The sections I wanted to add include: Food stores estate (stats and examples/ formats) Product ranges Advertising Food ethical policy Awards

If anyone can think of other sections that could be relevant here please let me know. Aliciawalker33 (talk) 08:50, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

We also need to clear up some confusion in the article. The Co-operative Group has named its food retailing division The Co-operative Food, but The Co-operative Food is also a shared brand for convenience stores and supermarkets of a dozen or so co-ops. Both topics should be covered clearly and distinctly in the article, in my opinion, if someone has the writing skill and time for that.

In reply to Alicia's suggestions:

  1. The food ethical policy and product ranges topics seem to apply to the CRTG, not to Food, but I may be wrong.
  2. The same applies to product ranges, as far as I can see (though perhaps these two points make a case for merging this food article with the CRTG article.)
  3. A section on the estates has a great possibility of continuing the confusion between Group's food division and food at the other co-ops, but if well written, it is probably an opportunity to clarify the situation for readers.
  4. I said elsewhere that I don't see much place in the encyclopedia for awards.

Ha... The coop have done a good job of 'allegedly' writing their own wiki page. 82.27.165.163 (talk) 22:32, 11 August 2015 (UTC)

I've just tried to make the page neutral. If they (edit: 'they' as in people connected with the company) revert, please lock. Mistyhands (talk) 01:05, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
