Origin[edit]

While the concept may be likened to the post-trial commentary on shows like The People's Court and Judge Judy as mentioned in the article, I think those segments are more like post-game interviews seen on televised sports, especially if you think of a trial as a sort of competition. And mentioning Judge Judy in particular as a precursor is inaccurate, as her show is not as old as The Real World, the first show of which I'm aware that used a "confessional", named and conceptualized as such, apparently referencing a religious confessional, which should be mentioned in the article, (especially as there's a hatnote from that article leading to this one).
