Age of Corossol crater

[edit]

According to Lajeunesse et al. (2013):

"This structure has therefore never been “provisionally dated to 12.9 cal. ka BP” as stated in Wu et al. (2013). The results presented here now clearly provide evidence that the crater was formed prior to Quaternary glaciations." and that it formed "...prior to the suberial erosion of the submarine cuestas of the region, which could have taken place during pre-Quaternary sea-level low stands."

The paper is:

Ortiz, 2013, The Corossol structure: A possible impact crater on the seafloor of the northwestern Gulf of St. Lawrence, Eastern Canada.
