Susten.biz I have concerns about this sentance
" It remains a popular notion among those who believe that toxic waste and maintenance problems of solar energy devices can ultimately be overcome, or that yields of passive or biological means of gathering and using this energy can be made to approximate those of fossil fuels."
1) It may be several sentances
2) Loaded words (see Power words) "notion", "toxic waste"
3) Vauge references "maintenance problems" need citation. ( In my experience that causes of many of those problems are know and are or can be addressed) (I am a PV installer and an emerging solar thermal system designer)
4) biological means -> anything is possible but as I recall plants are bout 1% efficient a converting sun to stored energy in form of hydrocarbons while, PV's are at production efficiency around 17% as I recall, and solar thermal can easily capture 60% or recieved energy
5) fossil fuel energy density is equalled by biodiesel and approximated by ethanol both made from current solar income.
