Love this page. It has what an encyclopedia should: great detail. I learned here what I sought elsewhere, unsuccessfully. I think this both a well-done article, and an important one - unicellular nitrogen fixation, as in Cyanothece, would be revolutionary if transferred to chloropasts, which are cyanobact remnants integrated in plant cells. In the Habitat section, "moors" should direct to moorlands, not to "the Moors" as in the people. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 145.109.44.63 (talk) 09:50, 14 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

taxonomic changes

[edit]

many species that were once called Cyanothece have been moved out of this group and reclassified into another genus based on genomic data (despite many physiological similarities) - e.g. strain PCC 8801 is now Rippkaea orientalis PCC 8801 and ATCC 51142 is now Crocosphaera subtropica ATCC 51142. See https://doi.org/10.1111/jpy.13304 and others.

One day I may fix this... Cyanochic (talk) 21:58, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
