12 Volt[edit]

"...but the 24-volt electrical system upon which the military had insisted was replaced, in the civilian VLRs, by a more conventional (for the time and vehicle's size) 12-volt electrical system" Has anything but 12 volt been used in normal civilian road going automobiles at any time since then? There were some systems using 6 volt from that era and before, and I know there has been talk of making 24 or more volts standard instead of 12, but 12 has been the almost universal standard in the US for my entire life.
