[edit]Based on the rest of the lyrics of the song, I believe that the Eye is portrayed as the instrument of oppression, a way for the Man to spy on the citizens:
You think you've private lives,
Think nothing of the kind
There is no true escape
I'm watching all the time

Source?
[edit]Is there a source for the song interpretation? If so it should be cited; who cares what some random editor thinks. Penguinwithin 05:51, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
I agree "This line insinuates[citation needed]that the Electric Eye has been commissioned by a totalitarian government to spy on the people of Earth. The Eye is clearly portrayed to be a tool of oppression - a way for the government to spy on the citizens." From I'm elected electric spy? That seems to be really reaching for interpretation. If anything the word elected suggests it exists in a democratic society, with a darkside, rather than a totalitarian one. 24.65.42.159 (talk) 01:18, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Maiden cover?
[edit]It's impossible for the information about Iron Maiden covering this song during the Di'Anno era to be true because Di'Anno left the band before this song was recorded. --Sparkiplasma (talk) 21:37, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
reality?
[edit]I heard the song (again) recently, and it seems that today's Britain is not far from that scenario they sing about, eh? --Thewizzy (talk) 10:24, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
