Removal of material[edit]

Description of parliamentary constituency amended to reflect change (May 2010) as the Blaby constituency became 'South Leicestershire' constituency —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.156.154.75 (talk) 00:16, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed unsourced material (regarding crime and local characters) and also the section about the middle classes moving out. This is an encyclopedia, not a forum for snobbery. --80.47.187.62 10:21, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removed bits regarding Frank Evans, if we include him we'd have to add about half the village who write into the mercury from time to time plus no reference provided about him being a prominent diarist so I think only fair that goes to. Also deleted the bit about Mr Camerons apparent visit, no reference, and June has very much been and gone (Elphonic 08 August 2010).

Fosse Park[edit]

I have removed this section as it contains unverifiable claims (re- taste of amsterdam and biggest outdoor shopping centre), please feel free to rewrite or re-introduce the claims backed up with a verifiable source --Speed Air Man 10:47, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Colin Pitchfork[edit]

What has happened to the infrmation on Colin Pitchfork, I feel this information was valid for the article as it was the first DNA proved crime (internationally?). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Goodwin24 (talkcontribs) 11:19, 9 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

  • Information is still there about Pitchfork, unless my eyes are going funny --Speed Air Man 18:39, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • It was removed again by the '05:53, 15 April 2007 (TomTomOne)' edit with the edit summary of 'Crime section removed as we don't want to offend Mr Pitchfork'. Since this section has been removed and rebuilt a number of times it should be discussed here in the talk page with a consensus built before anything is put back. Removing encyclopaedic content to avoid offending a convicted murderer where the content is material relating to his offences and conviction is not a valid reason. The information is factual, notable, relevant to the Enderby page (the events happened in the area) and the details are well referenced using multiple links to national media organizations and government bodies.--Mendors 19:43, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Unfortunately TomTomOne is a persistant vandal (and a suspected sock puppet) but has been reported.--Speed Air Man 20:24, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of more unsourced material[edit]

Upmystreet.com is not a reliable indicator of an area's wealth, the website does actually state this, therefore it is not a reliable source for verification. Also, the line about watching TV and playing bingo, come on, blatant POV snobbery, no place in wikipedia for this--Speed Air Man 22:30, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced material[edit]

A recent editor stated that "official socio-economic data" is relevant to be included. Unfortunately, the website upmystreet.com is not a source of official data, the website does actually state this. I keep removing material as it is not backed up by a verifiable source. --Speed Air Man 23:12, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Images at last[edit]

Finnaly got around to adding images, took the photos today, will try to add more soon --Speed Air Man 16:54, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dispute[edit]

To the editors currently involved in an edit war, please cease editing this article until you have resolved your dispute on this talk page. You are both in violation of Wikipedia's 3 revert rule. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and any statement of fact should be backed up by reliable and verifiable sources. Also, Wikipedia does not allow original research, so Belovedaunt, I believe your edits are in good faith, but you cannot "use your local knowledge and expertise to make [the] article more accurate" as that violates the previous policy I mentioned. If you need further assistance, please request assistance at Wikipedia:Third opinion or Wikipedia:Resolving disputes.↔NMajdantalk 17:46, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding dispute[edit]

I will agree to stop reverting until this has been resolved here. I have left the current version untouched, but have asked for citations on other claims made which have clearly been made with the use of local knowledge and orginal research. I.e. "Enderby is said to be a typical example of a traditional English village".... By who? I could go on but i'm sure I have made my point.

agreed regarding the "Enderby is said to be a typical example of a traditional English village" comment, removed and rewritten --Speed Air Man 12:03, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I really must wake up properly before editing[edit]

Cleaned up the tags and replaced the stuff I mistakenly removed as vandalism (can't see properly first thing in the morning), better yet, I could use that "preview button"! I am still trying to find a public domain map image, if anyone has one let me know or just go ahead and add it. --Speed Air Man 10:34, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Looks Splendid[edit]

It seems the article is now in good shape.--Beloved Aunt 11:36, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

agreed, although it has taken a few edits, probably because I keep forgetting to use the preview button! --Speed Air Man 11:23, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Crime Rate[edit]

In trying to find some reference(s) for the crime rate I found:

Crime Update 2005: Blaby District Burglary Info - Blaby Vehicle crime - Blaby

Someone with a better knowledge of the local area should be able to transform the info in these links to suitable references. --Mendors 10:09, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, I think maybe a more up to date source, I'm certain that Leicestershire Constabulary releases an annual report every April, I'll have a look. --Speed Air Man 11:53, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
