Inaccurate taxonomy?

[edit]

According to the ITIS (Integrated Taxonomic Information System) website, Eublepharidae is a family to the suborder Gekkota, not a subfamily to the family Gekkota. Gekkota is a suborder of Squamata, and Gekkonidae is a family within Gekkota. This is also supported by the Encyclopedia of Life.

Furthermore, I found some literature online that suggests that Aeluroscalabotes (cat geckos), the genus (and a species and subfamily, since A. felinus is the only species in its genus and the only genus in its subfamily), are part of Eublepharidae. So Aeluroscalabotes belongs in the list with the 5 other genera. That claim is also supported in the ITIS link.

Since there's only one source for this article, I think some more vigorous research materials are in order.
