Moved rom mainspace[edit]

This reads like a first person report, and needs converted/cited before it can be included in mainspace. To the author, I've moved it here in the meantime:

"The Everest Marathon, was started on March 17 1987 by Andrew Failes of Scotland & his wife Rachel Park of the USA to celebrate Andrews 40th birthday. We decided we should stage a Roof of the World Marathon, because we had been talking about the Olympics with some porters & we thought if there was a race at high altitude the Nepalis would win it. So we put notices all around Namche Bazaar offering a first prize of Rs1000, second prize Rs750 & third Rs500, & eventually sixteen entrants turned up fifteen men & one woman all porters. The race was from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche & back, & they all wore numbers which were signed by a lodge owner in Tengboche with their arrival time & when they left. The entrants had to stop & drink some orange juice or chai, & we stayed in Namche making a big banner with "Roof of the World Marathon, Sponsored by Potala, Pittsfield, Mass. USA." After only 2 hours & 20 minutes the winner arrived, much to our amazement so we had to keep him waiting while we raised the finishing line tape so we could take pictures. We have pictures of all of this, & we held a party afterwards in Namche with chang & biscuits for all. It was fantastic, need I say as soon as the winner arrived, the first thing he did was sit down & have a cigarette!. There was a small report in The Rising Nepal, & there was a trekker there who said she would write an article for Runners World but I dont know if she did."

The 'History' section is poorly written and sparse on detail.[edit]

This section isn't well written and isn't very clear.

Further, the old Bufo Ventures site for the race can be accessed via the Internet Archive e.g. https://web.archive.org/web/20020208065701/http://everestmarathon.org.uk/page3.html

Perhaps some information from there could be considered?

I won't put in a edit for now, as this is a brand new account that I created to discuss these points specifically. I'd also like other people's opinions on if such edits would be a good idea. Diddlysquat42 (talk) 04:31, 21 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
