This article, as it stands, is a definition, and belongs in Wiktionary. A reference to it could be made in coins, but at present the section Features of modern coinage does not go into such detail. A new article, defining and describing all the fields and marks on coinage would be of great interest to those who wish to take up numismatics in a serious way, but not those with a passing interest. My vote, therefore, goes to:

first: new article with all the technical details about coin features
second: move this item to wiktionary

I think it should be (at least) mentioned in the coin article, otherwise a casual user will never be able to learn about it.

But yes, this is vote to merge...
