Concern about this article[edit]

User Gegigi expressed a valid concern about this article at Wikipedia:Help desk#Changing An Offense Statement Regarding My Neighborhood that warrants discussion.

Reference #1 is a city-data.com page, and I confirmed that the data on the Wikipedia article matches the city-data.com page. There are over 6,600 articles that have a link to city-data.com (see search results). When I tried to post the entire city-data.com URL here, I discovered that city-data.com was added to the spam-blacklist in April 2019 (see discussion). Should the sentence "It is a working-class neighborhood of approximately 7,200 residents, with a median household income of approximately $55,000 and a poverty rate of approximately 21%" and the city-data.com reference be removed?

The Wikipedia article states "At the time, it was the only neighborhood in the city where African-Americans could buy property" with two references that seem reliable. No doubt that this 1950s-1960s practice was racist. Are there any references that could be used to expand the article to explain how this practice was overturned?

How else can the Wikipedia article be improved? Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 23:00, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
