Usefulness of this article

[edit]

This is one of the missing 1911 Britannica articles. The original article also contains some info on the different types and brands of materials, all either outdated or covered by interwiki links. The Britannica editors obviously saw it as worthy of an encyclopedic article. I personally think it's borderline, but it doesn't really take up much space, and were it to be moved, nobody looking up the term on Wikipedia would be able to find it. I say keep, cause why not?, unless you're worried about abstract concepts like 'precedence'. Eixo 23:59, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merged text

[edit]

I have merged text into this article from a similar WP article, entitled Floor-cloth. Please edit mercilessly. Bry9000 (talk) 02:23, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Doublespeak.

[edit]

The lede states: "The term was previously used also for materials used in place of carpeting or to protect expensive carpets. . ." and then goes on to describe the ways that floor cloths are used today, much the same ways as they "used" to be. And not only are they do-it-yourself projects, but they can be found for sale. Reconsider your article's phrasing. Also, the term frequently appears as "floor cloth", too. I don't know what the best practice might be regarding the spelling. Thank you, Wordreader (talk) 09:16, 29 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
