Proposed merge of 1906–1909 team pages
[edit]I propose to merge the following articles into the "1906 Florida Gators football team":
1. "1907 Florida Gators football team";
2. "1908 Florida Gators football team"; and
3. "1909 Florida Gators football team."
My reasons for this proposed merger are straight-forward: (a) these are orphan articles; (b) they provide no information that is different than the article into which I propose to merge them; and (c) they do not fit the established pattern of Florida Gators football season lists by decades, from 1910 through 1989 (e.g., "Florida Gators football, 1950–1959"). There is a movement afoot to delete individual season stub pages as "non-notable," but the decade pages seem to be surviving quite nicely as lists. After merging these four Florida gators season articles, I would then propose to move the merged page to a newly created name, "Florida Gators football, 1906–1909," consistent with the decades that follow. If no one objects by April 30, 2010, I will implement the proposed article merge. If anyone has any thoughts on this topic, please contact me by email or on my user talk page. Thanks. The merger of these four pages has been implemented, and the resulting article has been moved to "Florida Gators football, 1906–1909," and the four original single-season pages have been retasked as redirect pages. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 16:34, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
