Use of Meänmaa in the article

[edit]

From a Finnish perspective, the term Meänmaa strictly refers to the part of the Tornionjokilaakso west of the river. When Finns (including people native to the area) speak of the area, it is always referred to as Tornionjokilaakso or Tornio River Valley. In this sense, the use of Torne/io River Valley or Torne/io Valley would be a much less debatable choice. TheBunkerKing (talk) 18:08, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Just to add: the measurements were mostly done on the now-Finnish side of the river, which I feel would make the Finnish term more accurate than the Swedish/Meänmaalainen one. TheBunkerKing (talk) 18:11, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
