this page really needs to be linked more to escapement than "other links". Although it's not that often used it deserves a better article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.136.72.16 (talk) 04:53, 24 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

workings

[edit]

It operates by a pendulum that pushes up a bar that is preventing the wheel from spining, but just long enough so the gear will move one tooth before the bar it put down again and stops the gear from spining. This should be added into the article. Jasonxu98 (talk) 22:51, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Lamp in Pisa Cathedral

[edit]

Are we really going to keep that myth in here? In 1893 Supino showed that the latern Galileo supposedly watched wasn't installed in Pisa Cathedral until 4 years after Viviani claims Galileo saw it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.78.32.24 (talk) 01:26, 20 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Galileo's Curriculum Vitae

[edit]

Is it necessary to talk about Galileo's role in history and enumerating his other inventions at the beginning of the article? Shouldn't it be confined to talk about the escapement itself? Wokomo (talk) 14:34, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
