History[edit]

In 1759, Garrett was founded by Sir Garrett Finn. He tried to name it Agothorn, but the committee declined. Sir Finn cursed their names and spat at their shoes. He left the town in an uproar and later had a child that would bare the family name. In April of the year 1764, Sir Finn was mauled by a bear in a hunting accident. Thus, in memory of Sir Finn, the citizens decided to name the town Garrett. (This is total bunk. The town was named after Caleb Garrett, who was an early settler to the area in the 1830's. Read 'The History of Douglas County' before you try to teach.)

The proceeding was removed from the history section. An interested editor should find appropriate citations and add back only the info that is supported. Dkriegls (talk) 02:51, 16 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
