University of Hull[edit]

The trivia section indicated that Blackadder mentioned the University of Hull, which did not exist during WWI. I've heard many people point this out as an anachronism, but they've completely missed the point. Blackadder mentions Cambridge, Oxford, and Hull. Any real British person, unless they were a complete idiot, would know there was no University of Hull. The fact that Mary did not know this is what proved to him that she was not British. (The fact that the General did not know this merely proves that he is an idiot, or at least so stuck on his knee-jerk Cambridge-Oxford rivalry that he didn't notice the rest of the list.)

The fact that there is now a University of Hull, and that it is a dump, is part of the joke, but irrelevant to the internal logic of the story.

Anyway, I removed this from trivia, but tried to make it clearer in the plot section. --75.36.141.123 07:39, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Note about rumour[edit]

On the article page, the last part mentions the rumour that Bladrick was entrusted to deliver the message of the nurse's innocence to the firing squad. Is there any evidence for this? Where does this "rumour" stem from, since in the episode it appears as if Blackadder and Darling race to stop it. -78.51.99.190 (talk) 09:22, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
