Edit request: add George Floyd (killed African-American) into the disambiguations.
The result should be: George Floyd may refer to:
- George Floyd (killed African-American), an African-American man killed by a white Minneapolis police officer on May 25, 2020
- George Floyd (American football) (born 1960), American football player for the New York Jets

- Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the
{{edit extended-protected}}
template. There should only be one blue link per entry per MOS:DABBLUE. They both currently point to the same Death of George Floyd. Not sure if the redirect George Floyd (killed African-American) meets MOS:DABREDIR if that was the sole blue link.—Bagumba (talk) 06:51, 29 May 2020 (UTC) - The page George Floyd (killed African-American) was not an redirect before. It was changed to one later. -- Herobrine303 (talk) 07:04, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- Understood. If there was consensus for a standalone article on him, that would be the main link. Otherwise, I'm not sure if there is precedent to have the left side list a title with a disambiguator with "killed" that redirects to a page on their death.—Bagumba (talk) 07:12, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
Spelling error
[edit]Carelessly spelling the word "led" as "lead" (with the wrong conjugation) in this disambiguation page undermines our project's credibility, making our editors appear poorly educated. 173.88.246.138 (talk) 11:21, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
Recent protests
[edit]Do we also want to add the "George Floyd protests" page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anon0098 (talk • contribs) 03:03, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Anon0098: The title is considered a WP:PARTIAL match, so an entry is not suitable, but one could get to it from the general "George Floyd" search link in the "see also" section.—Bagumba (talk) 04:02, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
Redirect to Death of George Floyd
[edit]This should be a redirect rather than a disambiguation. Less than 10 a day were visiting the page "George Floyd" before recent events, now hundreds of thousands are, clearly not in an attempt to find out about the footballer. Speed74 (talk) 04:46, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Speed74: Yeah, I've just been WP:BOLD and added a redirect. Statistically, nobody is looking for the Tampa, FL football player. A disambiguation might be necessary if even 1% of traffic intentionally went to the football player, but that's not the case. --Elephanthunter (talk) 12:53, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Speed74: You can discuss this at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/George Floyd. Regards.—Bagumba (talk) 16:34, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
