[edit]Autochthony writes. For what it is worth, a c. 280 Kg (600+ lb) grouper was taken on tha BP Tanker off Brunei in 1986-7.
Use of a 5 ton (tonne) gantry crane meant that hoisting it in was no problem. As landed on deck, it was over seven feet (2,1m) long, and its mouth looked 'big enough to swallow a shopping basket - sideways'.
