Political alignments[edit]
is the government entirely non partisan? I think the article could be enhanced with information about which party various members of the council, mayors, ombudsmen, etc were aligned with, if that information was available. ++Lar: t/c 11:59, 20 January 2016 (UTC)
- Officially, the current government is entirely technically non partisan, so "enhancing" the article with political parties is original research as it is usual the first office some one has held and they have not necessarily have chosen a political party. Previous to 1930, mayors ran under political parties, and that is covered in List of mayors of Flint, Michigan article, when available. Most Flint government elected official that have run for higher offices have run as Democrats. Spshu (talk) 14:02, 20 January 2016 (UTC)
- Pretty sure most mayors aren't holding their first office. Maybe it's the bios of the individuals that need enhancing. As a note, stating the well sourced party affiliation that a person claims isn't OR. Tangentially, I note your use of "technically", which really is getting at the gist of the matter. - Usually, the Mayor have come from the city council or school board in Flint. All of them are nonpartisan positions. Also, have the issue of previous the mayor's position was partisan (and their party affiliations are listed, one Socialist in fact). So, how could or would we differentiate between the two. Walling was indicated as a Democrat as the state organization came in to help him in an election. Weaver has been named a Democratic per the Fox News source in her article, but is that based on the assumption that any one in Flint government is a Democrat?
