Ground effects[edit]

Are these really called 'ground effects'? I've never heard of them being called that in the UK. On road cars they have nothing to do with the aerodynamic phenomenon of Ground effect. At best they provide a degree of anti-lift, which is not at all the same thing. At worst they just add drag. That is not to say that car manufacturers and sellers of body kits in the US or Asia don't call them 'ground effects' , of course! Any chance of some references? I have never heard of this use of the phrase either. It appears to be a mis-use of the phrase relating cosmetic additions to a road car to the skirts, etc. used to produce genuine ground effect in racing cars. I'd suggest a few options:

delete this page entirely
add references to confirm that this is a common use of the term
merge with the surprisingly short Body kit article, since this covers all items added to cars for aesthetic modifications.

If the material on this page counts as a valid use of the word "ground effect" (and I'm not convinced it does), then a note could be added to the Ground effect disambiguation page saying something like: The term "ground effect may also be used to refer to parts of road car body kits".
