Battle

- It's a pretty stylised image, but those are indeed the inverted stars and stripes at the sinking ship's stern. The Arethusa, a merchant ship of Baltimore, was lost off the coast of Valparaiso in a gale on 14 August 1826. Her captain and eight crewmen were lost, there were five survivors. Her anchor cable was reported to have parted, and she was driven onto rocks on the shore, which would appear to correspond with the picture. Benea (talk) 18:40, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
