character descriptions

To call Homer "venerable" (which means "lovable", not "old"), and Hud "ruthless", are actually closer descriptions of the film's characters. The novel's characters are "grayer" and more complex. Homer is a not-particularly-well-liked-person who is approaching senility and making bad decisions, while Hud's "despicable" behavior has some justification. The Plot

I redid the plot because there was barely anything on it and it skips from the very beginning to a couple things in the middle and the epilogue.
