Where can i get complete information about ip addressing

Ideally, from Wikipedia! I've been looking for an article for just this sort of thing to serve as a reference for students learning the subject. Maybe you can help me out with building it. Someone who is just learning about IP addressing will need to know about binary numbers to understand what an IP address is. They'll probably want to check out IPv4, and don't really care about IPv6 yet. To understand how subnetting works for ip addressing, they'll need to know about classful addresses (such as class A, class B, etc), and classless addresses created with a CIDR. So what else should be covered in a general article about ip addressing? Gahread 08:11, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect

[edit]

What's being described here is what is called by Classless Inter-Domain Routing a Host identifier. Host address is a more general term so, since this article is now an unreferenced orphan, I'm redirecting this to Network address for now. ~Kvng (talk) 16:40, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
