Preventing diseases
Are gene therapies also used to prevent the possibility of breast cancer ? See Breast_cancer#Research. Also, are there any gene therapies for Alzheimer and other diseases which occur (or worsen greatly) at advanced age?
Info on dna immunization needs to be improved. See https://geneticliteracyproject.org/2016/04/22/synthetic-biologists-fight-snake-venom-engineered-dna/
Macular degeneration might be prevented ? Tropical diseases ? STI's ? Modification of genes promoting addiction (substance abuse, i.e. alcohol, ... ) ? Some native americans for instance are unable to break down alcohol, resulting in less alcohol abuse. Needs looking into
Behavior modification in relation to increasing altruism, empathy ?

Perhaps the example of wisdom teeth can be given at other section ? I remember the human jawbone structure and teeth alignment has changed due to changes in nutrition (see See Wisdom_tooth#History). This is without a doubt regulated by genetics. Hence, changes can be implemented on those genes responsible for this, hereby eliminating the need of wisdom teeth extraction, eliminating possibility of excessive teeth and a range of other issues normally requiring dental/jaw surgery.
Also, other things to mention are (research on) genetics of body type/phenotype, body hair growth, tissue (& limb) regeneration, genital (labia) shape/size[1], eyes (perfect vision), ...
Can the human microbiome (gastrointestinal tract) or the human itself (T-cells, ...) be genetically modified to destroy microplastics that have been consumed ? Might be possible I think as other organisms also have mechanisms to break down (certain) plastics, see Plastisphere#Degradation_by_organisms. This could then benefit health as the microplastics no longer linger in the body (and microplastics can trigger certain cancers). Perhaps info on that can be added to article.

Editor's Introduction
Greetings everyone, my name is Arshad Begum, and I have taken on the responsibility of editing the ethics portion of the article. A little about myself: I am currently pursuing a master's degree in molecular biology and genetics at Uskudar University in Istanbul, Turkiye. I have a proven track record, having previously edited two Wikipedia articles, published two original research articles, and successfully written and defended my previous master's thesis. This experience has equipped me with a thorough understanding of the guidelines and ethics of scientific writing and editing.
My aim is to enhance the overall article by improving references and citations. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me. For more details about my background and verification, please click here: https://outreachdashboard.wmflabs.org/courses/Uskudar_University,_Istanbul,_Turkiye/Brain,_Neuroscience,_and_Biotechnology_Edit-a-thon_(2023-2024_Fall_Semester)?enroll=lwpfcrbt. Thank you! ArshadBegum 1 (talk) 18:49, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
- ArshadBegum 1, Thank you, you are most welcome to edit the article.
You might have noted that several more accounts made significant edits to the article in the last day or two. It appears that it was some sort of educational programme, because they were all new accounts. People being part of education assignments in editing Wikipedia should start from here: Wikipedia:Education program.
In any case, we have a range of policies, for instance in medicine-related articles we should not make biomedical claims based on primary sources.
Happy editing! — kashmīrī TALK 21:11, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
Transhumanism
Should there be content relative to transhumanism under the ethics section that shows both sides of the perspective? ArshadBegum 1 (talk) 23:01, 19 December 2023 (UTC)
- ArshadBegum 1, I'd think so, it would offer a good context. — kashmīrī TALK 21:11, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
Genetic engineering
I think it provides a good entrance before explaining CRISPR
Hi, Im student from Uskudar University. I edit this article (Human genetic enhancement) as an assignment for my course (Recent Developments in Biotechnology). I already completed Wikipedia training modules to be proficient in Wikipedia editing. I would appreciate any support. Best wishes, (Asma hadad) Asmahadad23 (talk) 20:09, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
