Season 2, episode 8 plot summary length
[edit]Thank you, QueerFilmNerd, for explaining your reversion of my edit removing the lengthy plot summary tag from this episode, the final one of season 2. I have now made some minor edits to the summary that shortened it a bit: it's down to 236 words. However, doing that only made me see more clearly the challenge there would be in achieving a shorter length. You cite the 200 word guide for maximum length; presumably in reference to MOS:TVPLOT? This is a MOS guideline, i.e. "a generally accepted standard that editors should attempt to follow, though it is best treated with common sense, and occasional exceptions may apply." Given the tag has been here for over a year and the summary remains longer than 200 words, I take that to be indicative of a consensus among editors that, in this case, given that this is the final episode of the series and lots happens in it, a slightly longer summary is OK. In the absence of any actual proposals to cut this down (forgive me if I've missed something), leaving a tag there seems to me to be of limited value at this point. It is not achieving anything except for making the table row take up even more space (ironic given that is the precise thing it is trying to prevent!). Ergo, I suggest this might come under a case "best treated with common sense", where an occasional exception should apply. With season 3 now showing, perhaps that will drum up some more editing activity and someone else will look at this anew, but, myself, I see no point in the tag just hanging around for months in this context. - Sherlock is a series that runs for an hour-and-a-half every episode, and yet is able to stick to the 200-word limit. I'm sure this series can as well. Unless the episode was two hours long? -- AlexTW 00:13, 27 May 2018 (UTC)
- I've managed to cut down the summaries to just under 200 words now. Wasn't actually that hard.--QueerFilmNerd (talk) 16:27, 27 May 2018 (UTC)
Main Cast Member Section
[edit]So, I've been looking at the main cast section the past couple weeks and been noticing that, in comparison to some other shows, over the past couple series, they have had grown to have a very large main cast (about 26 names if I counted correctly). As a result, to me, the section looks sort of long and slightly cluttered. I was wondering if we wanted to sort it at all, I was thinking sorting by synths and humans, or by the series they were introduced? Just something to make it a little easier to read and comprehend with such a large cast!--QueerFilmNerd (talk) 16:32, 27 May 2018 (UTC)
- By series would seem most useful to me. Bondegezou (talk) 20:39, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- I've ordered them by series, however series 1 is still quite cluttered imo. Lots of names.--QueerFilmNerd (talk) 06:29, 29 May 2018 (UTC)
- That's not going to be able to be fixed. Per MOS:TVCAST, they need to remain in the order they were credited, and there's no further way it can be split. -- AlexTW 06:30, 29 May 2018 (UTC)
