Was Ramsey really a gain from LibDems and Not from Conservatives (which the swing figures would suggest) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.13.197.229 (talk) 14:52, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It was a gain from the LibDems and the swing figures are correct. The swing figures are taken from the last time the ward was contested in a non by-election (i.e. in the 2008 council election) not from when the particular seat on the council was contested. The councillor who died resulting in the by-election was elected in either the 2006 or 2007 council election not the 2008 election. This sort of situation can arise in councils which elect by thirds.
