Merger proposal[edit]

I propose to merge Phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-trisphosphate 5-phosphatase into INPP5D. As far as I understand it, both articles cover largely the same subject. The scope of Phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-trisphosphate 5-phosphatase is broader in that it refers to both SHIP1 (INPP5D) and SHIP2 (INPPL1). However, both of these proteins are covered in more detail by their respective articles, thus making the umbrella article appear redundant. Alternatively, instead of merging, it might make sense to connect these three articles and to explain that Phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-trisphosphate 5-phosphatase is the umbrella term for the members of this (small) protein family and that INPP5D and INPPL1 are its two members. --Shinryuu (talk) 11:33, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think that the umbrella approach works better here; I've adjusted the lede a little to make the distinction clear (and to show how this might work as an umbrella article. Klbrain (talk) 12:16, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Closing, given the uncontested objection and no support. Klbrain (talk) 10:46, 29 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
