The Act is believed by a number of commentators to breach the Refugee Convention, The European Convention on Human Rights and conventions relating to Modern Slavery.

The UK's prior status as a defender of human rights and international law could mean that the passage, implementation and consequences of the Act will be closely monitored by other states to see whether they should follow suit (se the UN Refugee Agency statement, above. 82.24.246.62 (talk) 12:23, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
