Existing from 4.9 Mio Years ago

[edit]

it seems a little bit curious, that imperator shall exist from 4.9 mio Years ago, when the first Mammoth ever appears approximate 4.8 Mio ago (m.africanavus and m.subplanifrons) and the eldest remains are dated around 4 Mio -- Hartmann Schedel Prost 22:33, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Taxonomic Validity

[edit]

The idea that M. imperator is a valid species is not universally regarded as true among proboscidean workers. I've added a line or two -- with references -- to reflect this. I'm no expert at Wiki editing, so if anyone wants to make it prettier that'd be great. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.48.177.50 (talk) 17:21, 24 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
