"Data protection" issue regarding citation of IGKT Membership/Constitutional Rules booklet

[edit]

I have moved the following text added by User:Colinbyfleet in this edit from the article to this talk page for further discussion:

"^ International Guild of Knot Tyers (2008), Membership Handbook 2008/9 and Constitutional Rules (Rev. D), Needham Market, UK: Gipping Press, p. 70 PLEASE REMOVE THIS OFFENDS DATA PROTECTION LAWS"

Can you please provide additional information as to why you believe the citation of this document raises any issues with regard to data protection laws? I can assure you that this citation is not any kind of hyperlink to the actual document nor to any member information. Regarding the cited material itself, I believe it is sufficiently paraphrased and restated so as to avoid plagiarism and/or copyright issues. Further information about your concern will be helpful in deciding the best course of action. Thanks! --Dfred (talk) 20:03, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[...continuing my own comments after a bit more thought...]

While I'm still not sure about the data protection concern raised above, I do think citing this document has issues regarding Wikipedia's verifiability policy since this document is only provided to members. I suppose it would be verifiable if the Guild's Constitution is a matter of public record with the Charity Commission for England and Wales... But in any case, it probably doesn't matter, as the information needed for reference purposes in the article is now available from the Guild's website. I will cite that instead of this less verifiable source. --Dfred (talk) 21:53, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Capitalized last names

[edit]

Is there any reason why all of the last names in this article are in full caps?

The real purpose of IGKT

[edit]

I did not get the real purpose of IGKT from the article. 1) If IGKT as if ″international″ why head-quarter is situated in Britain and follows British laws? 2) Six knots challenge - why certain 6 knots? Why speed of tying is the determinite? The real life don't need speed in knots' tying always. 3) Why IGKT demands payment from members? 4) What is the real purpose of IGKT? Scouting was announced as ″international″ in the beginning of founding but indeed is British with notorious aims. Why Small Britain is always inventing global organisations?Evrey9 (talk) 14:04, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
