[edit]

I created this page based on the content of the International Rescue Corps web pages. I am a member of International Rescue and received the approval of the press officer before adding this article.

The press officer is Julie Ryan (press@intrescue.org).

I apologise for any problems that this has caused, but I was acting in good faith.

Restoration

[edit]

This page has been deleted (twice) as a copyvio, since no permission to copy has been filed with the Wikimedia foundation.

I restored it after getting the following on my talk page:

Can you let me know why you deleted the [International Rescue Corps] page for copyright violation. I don't recall seening the page but understand it was created by a Corps member who took information straight from the Corp's own website with permission.
Many thanks (Steve - Web Manager, International Rescue Corps - www.intrescue.org) Steve @ Aberdeen <>< 12:10, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

I hope the procedures (referred to in the restored copyvio notice) can be completed this time around. --Alvestrand 09:13, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The IRC webmaster User:Sbcco has requested that this version be deleted; a new version based on material already available for quoting will be written shortly. --Alvestrand 09:36, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New text published; link to the IRC website as reference for verifying information provided. Steve @ Aberdeen <>< 19:16, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Great! Now what's missing is independently published sources about the corps - citing reliable sources to establish verifiability. Good start! --Alvestrand 08:27, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Which Italian earthquake?

[edit]

When perusing List of earthquakes to make a link to the right earthquake, I could find only one earthquake in Italy around 1981: The 1980 earthquake at Conza della Campania. Is this the one? --Alvestrand 08:23, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's the one - it happened in 1980 but the concerns about the value of international search and rescue resources came about in 1981. Teams arrived prepared for urban SAR and ended up needing local support and, consequently, became a drain on local resources. The International Rescue Corps was formed in 1985 with an operational modal that did not depend on local support or resources: self contained bringing its own equipment, accommodation and food for a two-week mission. Other teams have since copied the model. Steve @ Aberdeen <>< 13:02, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Compassion tourists" -- why they were kicked out of Japan

[edit]

Creating more problems in a crisis affected area where the local authorities are organised. They would have ended up servicing and responding to the "International Rescue Corps".

William Hague: “The Japanese embassy advised them that they would have to be self-sufficient and that Japan would not be able to provide logistical support.

They arrived there with no transport or logistical or language support in place so I think that gave rise to the difficulty.” —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.151.14.32 (talk) 13:29, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Thunderbirds

[edit]

I have a recollection that this organization was inspired by International Rescue from the ITV series The Thunderbirds. If so, this should be noted.Royalcourtier (talk) 07:19, 4 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
