Possible addition: "Ionic current is characterized by a flow of ions (e.g. in a electrolytic solution) as opposed to a flow of electrons (e.g. in a metal). See also: Electric current." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.11.178.130 (talk) 21:56, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Might it be defined for positive ions (and opposite direction for negative ones)? --129.215.24.65 (talk) 16:31, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect

[edit]

Unless anyone objects, I'm going to merge/redirect this to Ion channel. There are all kinds of currents that are mediated by ions, not just those that go through biological membrane ion channels. And there is no good reason to treat the currents through ion channels as a separate topic from the channels themselves. --Tryptofish (talk) 22:15, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
