Holidays
J"ames Cromwell enjoys coach tours with UK-based tour company "Ashtons Holidays" and has been spotted at a hotel in Loch Lomond, Scotland. He is apparently a particular fan of the "Fan of Honeydew Melon" starter and enjoys a gin & tonic (bought using his red 'all inclusive' band) after dinner." This is an idiotic piece of trivia even if it were verified. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.213.247.171 (talk) 18:32, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
Blacklisting
- What was he blacklisted from? Attending college? As a member of the communist party? Being cast in movies? The text "His father, director John Cromwell, was blacklisted during the McCarthy era." does not specify, and the link only leads to general use of the word "blacklisting" (I am not sure of the answer myself so I cannot fix it)
appearance in Enterprise
- "We had to get clearance from James Cromwell and the actor playing the Vulcan" to use the film footage, he said, and if they had wanted too much money, Enterprise would not have been able to use the material. He believed that they had agreed to accept scale, and they were lucky in that production designer Herman Zimmerman had saved the entire lower portion of the Vulcan ship from the movie, which was brought out of storage and used to shoot three new brief shots. Gaskill noted that Cromwell did not have any lines in the new material, which led Sussman to laugh that in fact Cromwell doesn't appear in the new material at all; only parts of Cochrane are seen as a grizzled man commits the atrocity against the Vulcan.

but he does have a lot of soul
I think we can safely assume it's a different James Cromwell who's listed as a member of the Black Panther Party. MK2 05:23, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
- He looks at least as African American to me as Michael Jackson. Aragorn2 20:53, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
- Just to clarify — this James Cromwell, the actor, did in fact work with the Black Panther Party. See the CNN interview linked from the article page. —Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 04:55, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
Height
Are we sure it's 6' 7"? That seems unusually tall, I don't recall him being that tall in any of the films I've seen him in. and to say that he was just "2 inches taller than the rest of the cast" likewise implies a pretty stinkin' tall cast.
- I wondered about this -- just noticed him looming over J. Frakes on a TNG. ("The Hunted".) IMDB says 6'5", though. Any other sources that say different? (Or indeed, similarly?) Alai 04:26, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure at his tallest he was 6' 7". Although with age he may have went down to about 6' 6". At present IMDB is saying 6' 7"[1] and several other news sources say 2 meters or 6' 7".[2][3][4] He some roles he tends to slouch and be bending over a fair amount. He really is quite tall though.--T. Anthony 09:15, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Picture
Can we get a better picture? This one seems to have someone's watermark across the middle. --Kynn (talk) 21:26, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
MASH
He appeared in a MASH episode as a practical joker friend of BJ -- and yes, he towered over Alan Alda and BJ, slouchy with it. Julia Rossi (talk) 07:44, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
Notables roles
I would suggest adding a sentence to the first paragraph, something like:
"His notables roles include Babe (1995), L.A. Confidential (1997) and The Green Mile (1999)". What do you think? Thanks Kvsh5 (talk) 17:43, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
^I agree. I'll add it. Sovryn (Sovryn) 20:37, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
New Picture
In the new picture James' face appears to be almost totally whited out due to bad lighting. Can we please get a better one or revert to old? Sovryn (Sovryn) 21:41, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
Adopted?
This article has stated for a while that Cromwell was adopted, but I'm not sure this is true. Yes, the Telegraph referred to him as "adopted" in 2006, but a 1946 LA Times article about his mother states his parents had "two children - James 6 and Jonathan 8 - the latter by adoption", indicating his brother was adopted, but not him. Aside from that, there's a fairly ludicrous resemblance between Cromwell and his father (i.e. this or this (the man standing in the center)). All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 09:12, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
